Sharn, I have enjoyed your blog so much, as I think we may share an ancestor. I was doing a search of Brookend, County, Tyrone and miraculously found your beautiful description of Jemima Florence of Brookend. To shorten this message, I will just say that based on dna, I believe my Great Grandfather, Thomas White,1838-1919, to be the son of Hugh White, 1790-1874, or the son of a very young, William-1820. The last, very unlikely, because William named a son, Thomas. I have dna connections in the Orr, Booth and Watters families too. Very strong numbers in William-1820 decendancy which would include Jemima"s father Hugh. My Thomas White was born in1838 in County Tyrone. At age 17, he fought in the Crimean War and after emigrating to America, he joined the American Civil War for 6 years. My name is Susan Welsh Netterville and my Ancestry name is Mary Susan Welsh. If you could see my White Family tree perhaps this would all make sense! I think my Thomas may have been a lost member of the family, but as you know in family histories, mystery abounds.
